Contradictions of Lasik Eye Surgery?

Lasik surgery requires a certain amount of Cornea thickness the reason needed for this is so that once the Lasik Surgeon creates the flap on the cornea and uses the laser to vaporize and shape the cornea that there is a certain amount of tissue remaining on the cornea. If you do have a thin cornea along with a significant degree of vision problems, it may not be possible to leave the critical threshold of intact corneal tissue in place. If, it is not possible for the Lasik surgeon to create a thinner flap, then they may recommend that your treatment be switched to a different method of Laser Eye Surgery.
Keratoconus is a disease of the thinning of the cornea. It is also very progressive meaning it is constantly getting thinner and thinner. This thinning will cause the cornea to bulge into a "cone" shape causing distortions in your vision. Keratoconus is an absolute contraindication for having Lasik eye surgery or anyother methods of laser eye surgery.
