Enhancements for Lasik

An Experienced Lasik Surgeon will take the time to perform all of the necessary testing and will sit you down a discuss the available treatments available to you to assist in reaching your goals. In some small number of patients due to the fact that the eyes heal at their own rate and the way your body functions, there could be an overcorrection or a undercorrection as a result of the healing response of your body. If this does happen you may be required to have a Lasik Enhancement to help you obtain the best possible results.

Lasik Enhancements are usually done about 3 months your initial Lasik Surgery. The reason their is such a long wait is so that ones body is allowed enough time to recover at it's own rate and let the results of the lasik surgery to stabilize. This is especially the case with Custom Lasik that can take as long as six to eight weeks before you will see the "custom" effect.

Enhancements cont..

If you experience a drastic increase in your vision in the first 24 hours after the Lasik Surgery and have a slower improvements each day after the first 24 hours over the next several weeks DO NOT become discouraged. Do NOT jump to the conclusion this soon after having your Lasik Surgery done that you need an enhancement. Whether you had Custom Lasik or traditional Lasik, your eyes must have the proper amount of time to heal. Enhancements should and only will be performed if a specific number of activities are unable to be performed due to undercorrection or overrcorrection.

Lasik Enhancements are second surgical procedures NOT Enhancements per say, I know that this term sounds a little misleading. Lasik Enhancements should be described as the surgeon is going to try and make your vision a little better with the second procedure. REMEMBER Lasik Enhancements have a lot of the same risks as the first surgery so one should only consider a Lasik Enhancement if they are deemed medically necessary and then Only at the suggestion of a Qualified Lasik Surgeon.
