What exactly is Lasik?
Lasik is Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK)! It is a fairly common procedure that can literally correct ones vision problems. It does this by changing the shape of the Cornea. The cornea is the clear covering over your eye(s). By clearing off this covering of your eye by using Lasik Surgery it helps your eyes to see clearly due to the fact that the covering over time gets greyish, making it blurry, therefore distorting ones vision. Lasik Surgery which is mostly always done as an outpatient surgery is done by useing several tools. A Laser called an Excimer laser ( which is used in Lasik Surgery to Vaporize the covering over the cornea) and a Microkeratome which is used to cut the cornea. The Lasik Surgeon will use the Microkeratome and cut the cornea to reveal another part of the eye called the stroma. After this flap is cut, the Lasik Surgeon will leave a flap to act as a hinge. Once the Stroma is revealed the Lasik Surgeon will use the Excimer Laser to vaporize the parts to change the shape and clarity of the Cornea. Once this is done the LAsik Surgeon will then replace the flap back to it's original position which will then be left to heal naturally. The process which is an Outpatient procedure takes only a couple of hours out of your day.

Once the Lasik Surgery is complete the Lasik Surgeon will give you all of the proper advice needed to properly care for your healing eye(s).
Due to the fact that your eye(s) have just been operated on with a laser, you will have to wear dark sunglasses which cover the eyes completely from the sun. The reason for this is that your eye(s) will be extremely sensitive to sunlight and bright lights in the home for a few days.
